Round Up …

At the moment, in Geography we are completing our unit on culture. It’s pretty good, especially the current task on a global culture where we are examining evidence for and against global culture an the reactions to these. For example my favourite is the town of Tavistock, Cornwall who boycotted McDonalds’ arrival and forced the branch to close down. They couldn’t compete with the world renowned pasty shops! Yeah, my McDonalds boycott is going badly, I ate there today when on my way to Rutland for P.E also I don’t the population of Ilkeston would join seen as there is hardly anywhere else to eat. McDonalds is pretty pop culture and so is the town, I think from what I see on Wednesdays so it wouldn’t go down well.

However the arrival of ‘Subway’ has reduced some of McDonalds’ profits I’m sure.  It amazes me – the power of the fast food chain, it takes some going to actually modify existing taboos and cultures such as walking and eating in Japan and having celebrations for children’s’ birthday parties forced upon them. I also hate Microsoft but that’s a long story of pain and error messages, I thought the market share was less than 92%, I don’t think a boycott of them would make any difference anyway! LOL and by the way I didn’t buy Office for Mac out of choice!

Not blogged for a while so this whopper should make up for it, been busy with revision, anyway me – Geography coursework, just done and hour of revision and had a break!

Not Bad…

My Mac

I’ve moved over from the dark ages of computing (windows) to computing bliss, a mac. I got it on saturday from John Lewis, it’s a 2.2 GHZ, 14″ MacBook with a superdrive aka DVD burner. It’s an absolute beast of a machine, so light but yet such as heavy weight performer. Transferring my files and music was painless thanks to an external hard drive and everything is compatible and working very well. So my mac experience so far has been fantastic, the new office:mac is compatible with all my existing files and works a treat. I love iLife 08 and have been laying down some tunes in GarageBand recently, iMovie HD is awesome to because it imports from my DVD camera via USB. ACE! Only problem is I realize how rubbish windows is when working at school.

Macworld 2008 and Multiculture …

It’s here the wait is over, it’s big, it’s back, it’s macworld 2008 at San Francisco.

It's Here

We are doing a coursework project about multicultural Britain at the moment in Geography. Which is not bad really, quite interesting. We examined the benefits of living in a multicultural society. We looked at sports stars such as Kelly Holmes, Monty Panassar etc.

Right Let’s see what Steve is going to tell us about apple …

The Egg and The Chicken …

You have to sign up for Hugh’s free range chicken protest. You must pledge to buy only free range chicken from now on. The conditions cheap battery farmed chickens are living in are absolutely appauling. It’s just not right. I am supporting all Hugh (a new friend) is doing and good luck to him, he’s onto a winner here. It’s not just chicken either, you need to buy eggs from chicken who have lived healthy lives. I welcome and encourage all comments. So go on, please, drop me a comment.

Battery Hen Farming

Or Happy Hens

An average battery hen farm,                  These hens will live happy,
this is absolutely disgusting                      longer and healthier lives.
and should not be tolerated.                    They will see the sun !!
They will not see daylight.                       and enjoy life. The eggs taste super!

Some 2008-ey stuff …

Well, here we are it’s 2008. I had a great xmas, somehow my parents got me and my brother a Nintendo Wii!!! Which I have to say rocks. The new year fireworks were awesome this year in London. I’m hoping to go to Uni there so it would rock to actually be able to see them live and be there.

Oh yeah, this blog has now had over 10,000 views, How awesome is that? In like, what just over a year. It’s a good result. Only six months left now before the blog will change when I go to college. I’ve been thinking of what to change it to, I think a personal, non-education related one with bits from college should replace it.

So that’s about it, right time for some Tsunami powerpoint work :-o

Erm… Not Blogged for a while …

… This is mainly due to a lack of time on my behalf due to boring stuff like mock exams, which we gotta do! Geography lessons have just been coursework based lately as we complete our final piece of coursework for our GCSE on the Asian Tsunami. Anyway since the completion of my mocks I’ve been taking it easy and winding down for the festive period. Today I went to the Dovecote restaurant at Morley Hayes for my Grandparents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary. It, as ever, is truly fantastic and has just been renovated but it still keeps its traditional charm. It’s a favourite with our family and I love to go. The food was delicious, as it always was, so it was a great day. I’m also trying to find myself a job for when I’m 16 at the beginning of February.Gosh, it doesn’t feel like Christmas yet.
